Account book, 1803-1839, of the East Windsor Township, N.J. Overseers of the Poor (Mercer County). Records expenses paid and received pertaining to assistance for the poor. Entries detail disbursements made to townspeople for boarding the poor and providing supplies, such as shoes and cloth. Also, entries of payments made for coffins and for grave digging. The names of many townspeople, "vagrants," and paupers are listed. Overseers of the Poor of East Windsor Township include Charles Butche, Samuel Ely, John Hammell, David Silver and Thomas Slack.
